Microbial Defense Systems approached CO OP as a four-person startup with a compelling antibacterial technology. Our task was to leverage the brand to focus and define the business, development priorities and strategic path to IPO. As such, CO OP became an outsourced C-suite extension of the company. Our challenge was to identify the most strategically important applications that were received and help build the organization and marketing around that.
The internal R&D showed the extraordinary performance of the technology. However, external and validated proof would be several years away from startup. We identified the key imperative: the underlying science behind this technology needed to be accepted by investors, partners, potential recruits and clients. CO OP built a brand focused on research and innovation. We also renamed the company and commissioned a virtual explanation of the method of action.
Having created the brand, CO OP’s focus shifted to launching the first series of products: packaging, sales tools and e-commerce. Acne Gel demonstrated the speed to market and consumer performance of the technology and Wound Gel put a powerful new resource into the hands of the most influential physicians. All this laid the proof platform to maximize the value of the IPO.
