John is a proud generalist, a deep researcher, and a dog doter. He collaborates well, thinks quickly, and gets a lot of pleasure from neat turns of phrase.
Having worked in a few roles that straddle editorial and marketing, John also spent two years as a university teaching assistant, writing tutor, and research assistant. He worked with undergrads, graduate students, and professors on everything from short essays to doctoral dissertations to book proposals. He learned many fancy words and how to distill complex ideas into simple language.
At CO OP, John has developed and executed verbal identities for several real estate clients and an insurance brokerage. He loves working with strategists to transform abstract ideas into clean copy. He also publishes a massively successful and influential weekly podcast recommendation newsletter called Not My First Radio.
John graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in English and a minor in religious studies. He earned an MA in English from Villanova University, where he wrote a graduate thesis about Alison Bechdel’s graphic memoirs that drew upon critical theories of feminism, queerness, affect, and the American Gothic mode.
